Keep Las Vegas Beautiful
In 2010 Las Vegas was certified as an official Keep America Beautiful affiliate, opening the door to grants and resources that are used to beautify the community. The Keep Las Vegas Beautiful chapter focuses on community education and hands-on stewardship that reduces litter and waste and promotes grassroots volunteerism, to make sustainable improvement.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities for those interested in supporting neighborhood beautification.
Request a Neighborhood Cleanup
Las Vegas residents may request supplies and support in organizing their neighborhood cleanup. The requestor must supply four or more volunteers, and the cleanup area must be within city limits.
Adopt-A-Spot
Adopt-A-Spot, established in 2010, is a beautification program that provides community groups, corporate organizations, and nonprofit agencies the necessary tools and supplies to keep an area of the city clean and litter free. Adopt-A-Spot encourages volunteer organizations and businesses to adopt areas in their community. Participants in this program conduct ongoing monitoring, reporting and lead beautification/cleanup projects in their designated areas of adoption.
Adopt-A-Spot Participants will:
- Supply five or more volunteers to maintain the proposed spot.
- Register one group lead. The group lead is the adopting group’s point of contact with the city. They ensure reports are properly submitted and relevant information is shared.
- Monitor their adopted area on a regular basis. Monitoring includes coordinating clean-ups, reporting violations, distributing educational materials and/or conducting informational meetings.
- Submit reports to the city on a regular basis.
The city of Las Vegas will:
- Recognize adopting groups or organizations with an Adopt-A-Spot sign after 6 months of successful participation in the Adopt-A-Spot program.
- Provide litterbags, clean-up tools and pick up of bagged litter.
- Respond to Adopt-A-Spot related assistance requests (graffiti removal, notices of violation, etc.).
